Aimed at:

Fund that finances research projects of 2 to 3 years in order to stimulate productivity and future scientific leadership of young researchers who hold a Doctorate degree, through research projects with a view to their employment in academia or other areas. Projects must be submitted by an applicant, who is the author of the proposal and will hold the status of Principal Investigator. A Researcher and a Sponsoring Institution with legal status in Chile must sponsor the application.

Important

Requirements:

      ·       Projects must be submitted by an applicant, who is the author of the proposal and will hold the status of Principal Investigator. A Researcher and a Sponsoring Institution with legal status in Chile must sponsor the application.

      ·       The Sponsoring Researcher must hold at least a half-time appointment: 22 hours per week at the Sponsoring Institution of the project, which must be registered on the Academic Hierarchies Section of the Research Funds Curriculum and must be available for the application. Otherwise, the application will be declared as non-compliant with the guidelines of this grant.

       ·       Researchers who got a Doctorate between January 1, 2016, and October 1, 2019, before the institutional sponsorship closing time can apply for this grant. The date to consider is the one in which all the requirements were met to obtain a Doctor’s degree.

For female researchers who have given birth between January 1, 2016 and October 1, 2019, the deadline for obtaining their degree is considered as of January 1, 2015, in the case of female researchers certifying the birth of more than one child since 2016, the benefit of adding one year for each child is granted. In this case, it is mandatory to attach the child's birth certificate to the application. Likewise, researchers who during the same period have been granted by law the tuition or personal care of minors will benefit from this prerogative. In this case, it is mandatory to attach an authorized copy of the decision of the court that granted the tuition or personal care.

      ·       The applicant must attach to the proposal a copy of the Doctor's degree, a document that proves that he or she owns this degree or a certification issued by the Postgraduate Office or a competent authority, in which state that he or she has met all the requirements for obtaining the Doctor's degree. In the case of attaching a certificate, the document must be issued as of January 2017 and be valid during the closing date of institutional sponsorship.

If any of the documents as mentioned earlier are issued in a language other than Spanish or English, they must additionally attach, at the time of application, a simple translation into one of these two languages: English or Spanish.

     ·       Writing the application and proposal in English is optional for projects in all areas or disciplines.

      ·       Curriculum Information: On the Curriculum for Research Funds section, both the applicant and the Sponsoring Researcher must complete their personal and academic data as requested. Once this has been done, up to a maximum of 10 publications (as of 2014), if applicable, must be selected to be uploaded into the application. The application may be declared as non-compliant by the Councils if it does not contain the essential information for its proper evaluation.

Restrictions:

     ·       In cases of simultaneous applications as Principal Investigatorto this competition as well as to the FONDECYT 2019 Initiation into Research and/or the FONDECYT 2020 Regular Grant competitions, only the first proposal received through the Online Application System will be considered. The remaining applications will be declared as non-compliant with the guidelines of this competition. 

     ·       Applicants who are not able to apply to this competition as Principal Investigators:

                          a)  Those who have had a FONDECYT Postdoctoral Grant in previous           competitions. Principal Investigators of current or finalized FONDECYT Regular Grants or FONDECYT Initiation into Research Grants.

b)     Those who are currently executing or have finalized a project under CONICYT’s Concurso Nacional de Inserción de Capital Humano Avanzado en la Academia.

c)    Those who are currently executing or have finalized a project under CONICYT’s Programa de Inserción y Atracción de Capital Humano Avanzado: Apoyo al Retorno de Investigadores desde el extranjero.

d)     Those who are currently executing or have been awarded with CONICYT’s Concurso de Subvención a la Instalación en la Academia.

e)     Those who are currently executing or have been awarded with CONICYT’s Concurso Nacional de Inserción de Capital Humano Avanzado en el Sector Productivo.

       ·       Applicants who are not able to apply to this competition as Sponsoring Researchers:

    a)     Those who have been Doctorate tutors or co-tutor of an applicant to this competition.

     b)     Principal Investigators of FONDECYT projects with pending approval of final academic reports who, by the closing date of institutional sponsorship (October 1, 2019), have not submitted the information requested to approve the project. If that is the case, the application will be declared as non-compliant with the guidelines of this competition.

Institutional Sponsorship Request:

Every project must have the Sponsorship of an Institution with legal status in Chile, for which, the Sponsoring Researcher must submit the following documentation to the Office for Research Affairs (DINV) through an Internal Sponsorship Request Form:

       ·       Sponsoring Researcher UC: DOI (Internal and Mandatory Statement) signed by the Dean of the corresponding Faculty, according to the institutional format (document includes 2 pages). The Sponsoring researcher must have a contract of 22 hours per week or more at the UC. 

      ·       Sponsoring Researcher UC: Submit the project background to UC’s Ethics and Security Unit.On the DINV form only indicate the ID of the request to Ethics, it is not necessary to attach a certificate or mail.

Applicant’s and Sponsoring researcher’s Responsibility:

       ·    Read and review thoroughly the guidelines of this Grant, frequently asked questions and other documents available at FONDECYT’s website.

       ·       Pay attention to emails and announcements on DINV’s website for both general application processes and for specific instructions for different project.

       ·       Find out about the internal processes of each Faculty, School or Institute to get the documents requested signed for the Institutional sponsorship on time.

La postulación deberá ser patrocinada por un Investigador y una Institución Patrocinante con personería jurídica en Chile.

     ·       Los proyectos deberán ser presentados por un postulante, quien, a su vez,esel autor delapropuestaytendrálacalidaddeInvestigador Responsable. La postulación deberá ser patrocinada por un Investigador y una Institución Patrocinante con personería jurídica en Chile. 

      ·       El Investigador Patrocinante debe tener dedicación de al menos media jornada: 22 horas Semanales en la Institución Patrocinante del proyecto, lo que deberá registrar en la Sección Jerarquías Académicas del Currículum para Fondos de Investigación y deberá estar disponible en la postulación. De lo contrario, la postulación quedará fuera de bases.

     ·       Pueden postular a este concurso investigadores que hayan obtenido el grado académico de Doctor a contar del 1 de enero de 2016 y hasta el 01 de octubre de 2019, antes de la hora de cierre de patrocinio institucional. La fecha a considerar es aquélla en que cumplió con todos los requisitos para obtener el grado académico de doctor.

Las investigadoras que hayan tenido un hijo entre el 01 de enero de 2016 y el 01 de octubre de 2019, el plazo de obtención de su grado es considerado a partir del 1 de enero de 2015, en el caso de investigadoras que certifiquen el nacimiento de más de un hijo desde el año 2016, se otorga el beneficio de adicionar un año por cada hijo. Para acceder a este beneficio, será obligatorio adjuntar certificado de nacimiento del hijo a su postulación. Asimismo, gozarán de esta prerrogativa investigadores que durante el mismo periodo se les haya otorgado judicialmente la tuición o el cuidado personal de menores. Para acceder a este beneficio, será obligatorio adjuntar copia autorizada de la resolución del tribunal que le haya otorgado la tuición o el cuidado personal.

·       El postulante deberá adjuntar a la propuesta copia del grado de doctor, documento que acredite que se encuentra en posesión de éste o certificación emitida por la Dirección de Postgrado o autoridad competente, en que informe que ha cumplido con todos los requisitos para la obtención del grado de doctor. En el caso de adjuntar un certificado, el documento debe tener fecha de emisión a contar de enero de 2017 y vigencia a la fecha de cierre de patrocinio institucional.

Si cualquiera de los documentos antes mencionados se encuentran extendidos en idioma distinto a español o inglés, adicionalmente deberán adjuntar, al momento de la postulación, una traducción simple a alguno de estos dos idiomas: Inglés o Español. 

    ·       La postulación en idioma inglés es opcional, para los proyectos presentados en todas las áreas o disciplinas.

      ·       Antecedentes Curriculares: En la sección Currículum para Fondos de Investigación, tanto el postulante como el Investigador Patrocinante deben completar los antecedentes personales y académicos solicitados. Una vez realizada esta acción, podrán seleccionar como máximo 10 publicaciones (a partir del año 2014) a ser incorporadas en la postulación y proyectos financiados, si corresponde. El proyecto podrá ser declarado fuera de bases por los Consejos, si no contiene la información imprescindible para su adecuada evaluación. 

Restricciones:

     ·       Si un investigador postulara como Investigador Responsable en este concurso, en el Concurso FONDECYT de Iniciación en Investigación 2019 o en el Concurso Nacional FONDECYT Regular 2020, sólo se considerará para el proceso de concurso, el primer proyecto recepcionado a través del Sistema de Postulación en línea, quedando fuera de bases las restantes propuestas.

   ·       No podrán postular en este concurso como Investigadores Responsables:

a)     Quienes hayan recibido financiamiento para un proyecto FONDECYT de Postdoctorado en concursos anteriores, Investigadores Responsables de proyectos Regulares o de Iniciación en Investigación vigentes o finalizados.

b)     Quienes se encuentren ejecutando o hayan finalizado un proyecto del Concurso Nacional de Inserción de Capital Humano Avanzado en la Academia de CONICYT.

c)      Quienes estén ejecutando o hayan finalizado un proyecto de Apoyo al Retorno de Investigadores desde el extranjero del Programa de Inserción y Atracción de Capital Humano Avanzado de CONICYT.

d)     Quienes sean actualmente o hayan sido beneficiarios del Concurso de Subvención a la Instalación en la Academia de CONICYT.

e)     Quienes sean actualmente o hayan sido beneficiarios del Concurso Nacional de Inserción de Capital Humano Avanzado en el Sector Productivo.

      ·       No podrá postular en este concurso como Investigador Patrocinante:

            a) Quien haya sido tutor o cotutor de doctorado del postulante a este concurso

b) Investigadores Responsables de proyectos FONDECYT con informes académicos finales pendientes de aprobación y que a la fecha de cierre de patrocinio institucional (01 de octubre 2019) no hayan presentado la información requerida para su aprobación. En caso de verificarse la concurrencia de esta causal, se declarará fuera de bases la postulación a este concurso.

Solicitud de Patrocinio Institucional:

Todo proyecto deberá contar con Patrocinio de una Institución con personería jurídica en Chile, para lo cual, el Investigador Patrocinantedebe enviar a la DINV a través del Formulario de Solicitud de Patrocinio Interno la siguiente documentación:

     ·       Investigador Patrocinante UC: DOI (Declaración obligatoria interna) firmada por el Decano de la Facultad correspondiente, según formato establecido por la DINV (documento contempla 2 hojas). El investigador Patrocinante debe tener un contrato académico de 22 horas semanales o más en la UC. 

      ·       Investigador Patrocinante UC: Presentar los antecedentes del proyecto a Unidad de Ética y Seguridad UC. En el formulario DINV sólo se debe indicar el ID de la solicitud a Ética, no es necesario adjuntar certificado o mail.

Responsabilidades del postulante y patrocinante:

·       Revisar las bases concursales, preguntas frecuentes y otros documentos del concurso disponibles   en FONDECYT.

·       Estar atento a correos y comunicados en el sitio web de concursos de la DINV tanto para los procesos generales de postulación como para instrucciones específicas por proyecto.

·       Informarse de los procesos internos de su Facultad, Escuela o Instituto para obtener los documentos solicitados para el respaldo del patrocinio Institucional a tiempo.
